Wahoo! Another reason to be happy today.

The Dallas Cowboys played against the New York Giants (game televised on Fox) and won 31 to 20.   The scoring was relatively point-counter-point throughout the duration of the game.   Cowboys tight end Tony Curtis put the first touchdown on the board in the first quarter.   Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey responded with a touchdown of his own in the first quarter as well.   The second quarter brought in a Dallas and a New York field goal (the former in the top of the quarter, the latter in the bottom) and touchdown for each team too (courtesy of New York running back Reuben Draughns and Dallas wide receiver Patrick Crayton, who gingerly walked to the end zone and carefully set the ball down).  Dallas and New York were tied 17 to 17 at the end of the second quarter.

The third quarter saw one touchdown made by Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens.  The fourth quarter was quite exciting visually and dramatically.  Giants running back Brandon Jacobs would have gotten an 83-yard kickoff return TD but it was retracted (or “nullified” as the NFL calls it) due to a holding penalty on Giants guard Chris Snee.  The Giants got three more points from a field goal but wouldn’t get any more.  Terrell Owens made a 50-yard touchdown (pass caught approximately ten to fifteen yards from the end zone) in bottom of the fourth quarter, giving the Cowboys 31 points.

Observations & Miscellania:

1.  Near the two minute warning in the fourth quarter, one of the commentators either referred to the Giants offense or Eli Manning’s leadership of the offense tonight as “lackadaisical,” which means “nonchalant a la carefree to a fault.”
