I watched Tarsem Singh’s newest cinematic sparkle, The Fall (2006), last week. One of the previews was a movie called The Mongol (Sergei Bodrov, 2007), which is about Genghis Khan’s early life.

Nevermind that Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano is playing the main character; nevermind that Japanese actor Takashi Sorimachi has done it too. What I find perplexing is the following:

Hilarious, isn’t it? That the English producers managed to cast actors that bear some resemblance to what the Mongols probably looked like?

Shudder to think the A&E Biography version is even worse.
