  1. Guam? Spent eighteen months there at the time the Japanese were going there as a Honeymoon destination. The main evening places were Pirates Cove and The Sleepy lagoon (which we called the sloppy latrine). I was in a band at the time, The Reactions, and played both quite a few times.

The Japanese have pretty much taken over the island, which is a bit ironic when considering the islands past war history.

The original Islanders are known as Chamorrans. Johnny Sablan, an islander we played with quite a few times, did a song called, My Chamorrans, which is now considered a classic. Johnny had his own way of talking. His translation of mo . . . fu . . . was muthzis fukzis, and Tiny Bubbles his theme song. He was indeed a trip to work with. If a song had more than three chords, it wasn’t rock and roll :-)

    • I have relatives that lived in Guam for many years.

Guam isn’t an American state, though. Neither is Washington DC, but it is the the nation’s capital.

Why don’t yoo find ming a good Guam news item? And a good Puerto Rico piece (in English)?

      • The Bud Light Comedy Series, Docomo Pacific and The Sheraton Laguna Resort Guam, in conjunction with Cherry Enterprises, present “The Laughing Samoans Live on Guam” at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. April 9.

        Hurry :-)
