NFL 08: Cowboys lighten up the Browns

The Dallas Cowboys traveled to Cleveland to go up against and eventually took down the Browns.

Televised by Fox, the first quarter saw its first touchdown at about the seven or six minute mark on the clock. Cowboys running back Marion Barber put it in the end zone. The top of the second quarter put the Browns on the board with a TD by tight end Kellen Winslow. Teams tied. 7-7. Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens caught a thirty-five yard touchdown pass not long afterwards. At the very bottom of the second quarter, Owens almost made another TD but it was ruled down at the Cleveland one. Marion Barber got into the end zone on the next play. Going into halftime, Dallas 21. Cleveland 7.

The third quarter featured Cowboys rookie running back Felix Jones’s first touchdown (of the rushing persuasion) at 6:24 on the clock. Dallas 28. Cleveland 7. Browns defensive back Eric Wright intercepted Tony Romo’s TD pass intended for Terrell Owens with under a minute in the third. The fourth quarter allowed the Browns to add three more points via field goal for 10 total points. Final score: Cowboys 28 and Browns 10.

Observations & Miscellania:

1. Joe Buck and Troy Aikman provided commentary for Fox.

2. After returning from the commercial break with fifty-nine seconds left to play in the first quarter, one of the cameras honed in on a Browns fan who wore a headpiece consisting three dog-heads, much like Cerberus of Hades.

3. Terrell Owens garnered a penalty for excessive celebration after he made the TD in the second quarter. After putting the ball down on the ground, he did a mock track meet crouch, pretending the goal line was the starting line. He had a nice body line, though.

4. Jim Brown was in attendance at the game. He looks like a bulldog, animalistic, speaking without saying a word.

5. Skycam was in the house. When Cowboys Mat McBriar punted the ball away around 6:57 of the second quarter, the camera was behind him (long shot, slightly high angle). The skycam’s shadow could be seen just to McBriar’s right shoulder. It looked like an alien, something Monster’s Inc. meets Lilo & Stitch.

Yay! Eagles beat the Rams. Steelers beat the Texans.

    Hey Bob,

Much obliged for leaving your hand prints here. Is it my imagination or did the Cowboys don lighter blue uniforms in the past two to five seasons?

I didn’t get to see the Eagles game. They kept the Rams to a field goal, yes? Was that just terrible St. Louis defense throughout in conjunction with mediocre offense? Or was Philadelphia just exceptionally efficient on the defense?

When the point difference is so extreme in games I’ve seen in the last three seasons, it’s usually because the defeated team’s defense didn’t appear to know what it was doing; and the winning team’s defense was polished to near perfection.
