What would you do with a Klondike bar?

I mean, with a bicycle and paint?  Let the cement be the limit.

It’s been a while since I’ve reviewed anything for FilmThreat.  Check out my piece on The Boys Are Back (Scott Hicks, 2009) here.  I’m not a Clive Owen fan.  In fact, sometimes he unnerves me, and yet… What can I say, the trailer had me at “respected journalist” juxtaposed against a tennis court.

The film is absolutely gorgeous visually–the entire time I was watching it, I kept thinking of those Publix commercials of the last several years.  You know, the ones where heteronormative families prepare for a scrumptious meal; there may or may not be a back porch, a seaside cottage, a picnic, or kids being so darned cute.  A Labrador or golden retriever may be in the shot as well.


Product Placement & Branding: Chuck Taylor high tops (purplish-gray), Canon binoculars, HP laptop, Playstation of some kind (can’t read my own handwriting), AIM (or a fictitious instant messenger); Fruit Loops; Chelsea futbol, Rodlaver Arena.
