Off Topic: Today’s Verse 47

She wraps the fracturing Cubist avatar

into a cloak of gentility

wide-eyed, but non-threatening

A show of commiseration and woolen pleats

to enclose the liminal evolution of the front stage feat,

Yet, so abruptly

She tamps the aromatic soothsaying creed,

and instead floods the village walkways with

brimstone, dogmatic soliloquies.

And so,

there lies the end of an era;

The reluctant hero must forge on anew,

with shinier hems made of true

and comforting cradling.

    Quite a juxtaposition, beautifully done.

      Many thanks! I know “authorial intent” can be disregarded when interpreting a text. Nevertheless, I think it’s important that I note in this case, the “She” in the poem is not myself. I am the “reluctant hero.”
