My Blue Summer

Chinese pop has been on the brain once again.  I find Chinese music to be the best way to dissipate relentless inner monologues that won’t shut up.

The singer’s name is Valen Hsu and the song is called My Blue Summer.

MyBlueSummer

Translated by yours truly.

As long as you want to go home, no matter how late, I will wait for you.
The sorrow of your heart’s pain, no matter how far, I can sense it.

Don’t you cry, I will lament for you.
Don’t you think about it, wait for the heavens’ arrangement.

Happiness ceases a fiery night.
Love is said to be beautiful and simple, and can ask for anyone to like it.
Forever, I’ll always struggle and wait for you.
Your love always stays in that blue summer sky.

As long as you want to go home, no matter how late, I will wait for you.
The sorrow of your heart’s pain, no matter how far, I can sense it.

The Orphans of the World

When the world is about to end, if you were with your beloved, you could crawl into a hole in the ground and embrace the inevitable.  While I’ve liked this song by Wang Feng, I’ve never really, really liked it until today…when I started paying attention to the lyrics.

Translated by yours truly.

Don’t cry, my beloved, I think we will die together
Don’t cry, summer rose, all has already passed
You see the cars going back and forth, the distant neon lights flickering
All of this is like our dream

Come on, my beloved, tonight we dance together
Come on, lonely wild flower, everything will end
You hear outside the window the nightingale and the laughter from the street crowd
All of this is like our dream

Hey, don’t cry, my beloved
We have to be strong, we have to smile
because no matter what happens to us,
we will always be this beautiful world’s orphans

Sometimes, I feel disappointment, I feel like a blade of grass
Sometimes, I slip into emptiness, but I don’t know why
Time has dripped away and yet I’m still here
I’ve already fallen into a deep vortex

Darling, look into the distance
The moon rises from wilderness,
pleading with you to hold me tight, I feel cold, I feel pain
You see the cars going back and forth, it’s like they’re searching for something
They’re just like our fate

Hey, don’t cry, my beloved
We have to be strong, we have to smile
because no matter what happens to us,
we will always be this beautiful world’s orphans

Hey, don’t cry, my beloved
We have to be strong, we have to smile
because no matter what happens to us,
we will always be this beautiful world’s orphans.
